Now, for the really fun stuff...

For me, half the joy of curling up with a great book comes from my cozy reading nook. Where do you love to cozy-up and settle into a good story? Do you have a favorite spot? If not, here are 3 cozy reading nook ideas for small spaces!

TRANSFORM WEIRD SPOTS INTO COMFY NOOKS
Whether you live in a house or an apartment, or a single room for that matter, you would be surprised at how many comfy reading nooks are hiding in plain sight. You just have to get a little creative in order to recognize them.
The first thing to look for is unusual architecture. When living spaces use strange layouts and quirky alcoves, you can carve out a cozy reading nook by measuring the space and simply fitting a chair, beanbag, or another soft, flexible seat into the spot. Any architectural oddity can be transformed easily with enough pillows, blankets, and standing lamps. A nook will feel cozy so long as you feel tucked away while you're there, and you also have enough gentle lighting to read.

COZY UP YOUR COUCH WITH BLANKETS & PILLOWS
In a lot of ways, this cozy idea is all about sticking to the basics. The main staples of a comfy reading nook are blankets, pillows, and more blankets and pillows. A quick trip to your favorite home goods store, if not a quick trip around your house, will provide you with a lot of options.
If you're on a budget, then opt for one super-sized, super soft, snuggly blanket, like the one pictured above. Oh, yeah, and it never hurts to put a pug in it, especially if you want your nook to be extra warm and snuggly... but I digress. The trick here, and I can tell you this from experience, is the more you wrap yourself up in a nest of blankets, the less likely the other members of your family will bother you while you're reading.

SNUGGLE UP OUTSIDE IN THE CRISP AIR
I always save the best for last… My absolute favorite reading spot to curl up in during autumn isn’t a nook at all, but rather to simply read outside in the crisp air. Personally, I love the contrast of feeling the cool, fresh air on my face while I’m warm and layered, all bundled up.
Taking a woolen blanket to sit on, I like to go to one of the nearby parks in my neighborhood. As long as I bring enough blankets and a thermos of apple cider, I’m good to get lost in a book for an enjoyable two hours. For me, the entire experience makes it delightful—walking to the park, getting settled on my blanket, firing up my Kindle and beginning a brand-new cozy mystery—and even walking home once the chill in the air has reached my bones is part of the fun.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Summertime, 1986. A stripper is found dead on Woodland Beach and Crystal doubts that the crime is burning a hole in some detective’s desk over at the local precinct. She knew the victim and because of it, Crystal is determined to find out who killed her.

As news of the murdered woman sweeps through town, an entire Christian congregation is shaken. Hadn’t the victim just started attending their Sunday services? And why is one of their youngest members, a boy named Seth, the only person in their small seaside town who the police have been questioning?

Seth can’t stand the other teenagers from the Kids for Christ program his uncle has been forcing him to go to. At home, he doesn’t get along with his executioner uncle, though he thinks it’s cool Robert kills people for a living. It’s even cooler when Seth sees a man walk straight out of the sea and introduce himself as Thomas. Why the police have gotten it in their heads that Thomas is the prime suspect is laughable.

Having no faith in the police, Crystal steps her investigation up into high gear. Even when it means getting close to the boy’s uncle, who happens to be one of her regulars at the club. Even when it means infiltrating the church to find out if the killer is there. And even when it means that Crystal herself could be the next to die.

THOMAS FROM THE SEA is a stand-alone story filled with dark wit, clashing cultures, and unsuspecting tenderness. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, clean language, and happy endings with a twist of magical realism throughout, you will likely love this novel for its levity, sharp voice, and powerful, spiritual message.
